FUW stand will be hive of activity at Pembrokeshire County Show

Those joining the Farmers’ Union of Wales stand (B13, by the Grand Arena) at the Pembrokeshire County Show (Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 August) can look forward to a busy program of events, #FarmingMatters chats and plenty of activities to keep children of all ages entertained.

Speaking ahead of the show, FUW Pembrokeshire CEO Rebecca Voyle said: “We have a busy three days of activities planned for the show, including a new children’s area where there will be an opportunity to enter our colouring competition to win Puddle’s the Pig’s cuddly cousin, Polly. 

“And those needing advice on how to spot scams, mental health support, slurry storage and information on changes to water abstraction licensing, farm fire safety and safe burning advice or any land agent queries, are welcome to join us at the stand as well. 

“We are also looking forward to discuss many #FarmingMatters and #FairFarmFunding with our members and elected politicians and extend a warm welcome to everyone. I hope many of you can join us for what promises to be another excellent show.” 

FUW Insurance Services Ltd. will also be holding a prize draw so don’t forget to enter to be in with a chance of winning a £50 high street voucher.

Tuesday 13 August

10.30am to 11.30 am & 2.30pm to 3.30pm - Members of staff from Trading Standards Consumer Safeguarding Team will be with us to offer advice and assistance on how to spot scams and protect yourself from them. 

10.30am to 2.00pm – Members of staff from the Department of Work and Pensions will be with us to provide advice and guidance linked to mental health support, retention of staff and recruitment.

11.00am to 3.00pm – Members of staff from KeBek Ltd, will be on hand to offer practical nutrient management advice, including clean and dirty water separation and slurry storage and information on changes to water abstraction licensing.

2.00pm to 3.30pm – Jeremy Turner from Mid & West Wales Fire Service, will be on hand to offer farm fire safety and safe burning advice and to explain what assistance the fire service can provide to farmers.  

Wednesday 14 August

10.00am to 3.00pm – Philip Meade, of Davis Meade Property Consultants, one of the Union’s land agents, will be with us to provide advice on a variety of issues ranging from rent reviews to telephone mast contracts.

10.00am to 1.00pm – Emma Taylor, from Building Resilience in Catchments (BRICs), will be with us to provide information on their research project into reducing the level of nutrients entering the Milford Haven Waterway through improving water, nutrient and habitat management on farms.  

10.30am to 11.30 am & 2.30pm to 3.30pm - Members of staff from Trading Standards Consumer Safeguarding Team.

10.30am to 2.00pm – Members of staff from the Department of Work and Pensions.

11.00am to 3.00pm – Members of staff from KeBek Ltd.
