Following active surveillance within the temporary control zone (TCZ), further cases of BTV 3 have been identified taking the total number of cases to 11 on 6 different premises in England.
The TCZ has been extended to cover the North and East coasts of Kent. Extending the TCZ helps ensure effective surveillance and minimise the spread of the disease.

The Big Farmland Bird Count is an annual event that encourages farmers and land managers to record the bird species and numbers on their farms. This year's count is taking place from 2-18 February 2024.
The count aims to raise awareness of the important role that farmers play in the conservation of farmland birds, and to measure the impact of the conservation work that many farmers and shoots carry out.
Sheep and goat keepers in Wales are being reminded to submit their annual inventory form by 1st February 2024 to avoid potential penalties.
Keepers are legally required to complete an Annual Inventory under the Sheep and Goats (Records, Identification and Movements) (Wales) Order 2015.
