A warm welcome and mouth-watering smells awaited those joining the Carmarthen branch of the Farmers’ Union of Wales at breakfast functions, which were organised as part of the FUW’s Farmhouse breakfast week campaign (January 21 – January 27).

The events were held on Thursday, 24 January at Llanddeusant village hall and Friday, 25 January at Llanarthney village hall.

“It was about showcasing the most important meal of the day in a bid to raise awareness of the health and nutritional benefits of breakfast and the huge variety of top quality farm produce available in Wales.

“We loved having everyone there and I thank all those who supported us this year either by cooking, sponsoring produce or helping us raise money for our worthy charities,” said FUW Carmarthen CEO David Waters.

The breakfasts raised a fantastic amount of money for the FUW President’s charity appeal -  a total of £820 - with all the proceeds being split between Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Farming Community Network.

A team of enthusiastic young farmers, a former Royal chef and members of the Farmers’ Union of Wales helped to make this year’s FUW Meirionnydd breakfast week one to remember.

The breakfast feasts, which were held Tŷ Mawr, Carrog, Corwen; Canolfan Pennal, Machynlleth and at Bryn Uchaf, Llanymawddwy, Dinas Mawddwy, formed part of the FUW’s Wales wide Farmhouse breakfast week campaign (January 21 – January 27), aimed at promoting the great Welsh food that farmers produce every day of the year.

“It was about showcasing the most important meal of the day in a bid to raise awareness of the health and nutritional benefits of breakfast and the huge variety of top quality farm produce available in Wales – ranging from bacon, sausages and eggs to speciality dairy products, breads and cereals. And a first this year was that we had local welsh lamb on the menu at our Pennal breakfast, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

“We loved having everyone there and I thank all those who supported us this year either by cooking, sponsoring produce or helping us raise money for our worthy charities,” said FUW Meirionnydd CEO Huw Jones.

The breakfasts raised a fantastic amount of money for the FUW President’s charity appeal - a total of £1905 - with all the proceeds being split between Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Farming Community Network.

The Pembrokeshire branch of the Farmers’ Union hosted two farmhouse breakfast functions as part of the Union’s Farmhouse Breakfast week (Monday 21 - Sunday 27 January 2019), which brought the local community together and gave those joining the breakfast a chance to have a chat with local Dementia advisers.

The breakfasts were held on Tuesday 22 January 2019, at Canolfan Hermon, Hermon and Friday 25 January 2019, at Crundale Hall and were joined by Heather Harrison and Maxine Ford, who work for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru covering all of Pembrokeshire offering support and information about dementia.   

“These breakfast events were about showcasing the most important meal of the day in a bid to raise awareness of the health and nutritional benefits of breakfast and the huge variety of top quality farm produce available in Wales – but it was also a great opportunity to bring the local community together.

“We loved having everyone there and I thank all those who supported us this year either by cooking, sponsoring produce or helping us raise money for our worthy charities ,” said FUW Pembrokeshire CEO Rebecca Voyle.

The breakfasts also raised a fantastic amount of money for the FUW President’s charity appeal -  just under £1,200  - with all the proceeds being split between Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Farming Community Network.

“We were delighted that Heather and Maxine joined us for breakfast as well, which gave our members the chance to have chat about Dementia.

The events were held on Saturday, 19 January at Caffi Siop Mechell, Llanfechell and Friday, 25 January at Anglesey Showground and were joined by over 50 members and friends of the FUW.

“It was about showcasing the most important meal of the day in a bid to raise awareness of the health and nutritional benefits of breakfast and the huge variety of top quality farm produce available in Wales – ranging from bacon, sausages and eggs to speciality dairy products, breads and cereals. We loved having everyone there and I thank all those who supported us this year either by cooking, sponsoring produce or helping us raise money for our worthy charities,” said FUW Anglesey CEO Alaw Jones.

The breakfasts raised a fantastic amount of money for the FUW President’s charity appeal -  a total of £525 - with all the proceeds being split between Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Farming Community Network.
