Ian Rickman

My name is Ian Rickman.  I am 55 years old, married to Helen and we have 3 sons.  We live at Gurnos, an upland sheep farm near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.  The farm extends to 220 acres with Common Grazing Rights on the Black Mountain, and I am a member of the Management Committee of the Black Mountain West Graziers Association.

I have been an active Union member for more than 20 years.  I was Carmarthenshire County Chairman from 2010 – 2012, and I am currently Chairman of the Hill Farming and Marginal Land Committee, a position I have held for the last 2 years.  In this capacity, over the last 12 months, I have attended several meetings, including National Fallen Stock, HCC’s Light Lamb Task Group and IBERS at Pwllpeiran.

On behalf of the Union, I have also recently attended meetings of PONT – Pori, Natur a Threftadaeth (an organisation which encourages grazing for nature conservation) and I am now a farming representative on the Board.

Outside of farming I was Chairman of Governors of Ysgol Gynradd Ffairfach.  I also enjoy rugby and I am a keen follower of the Scarlets.
