On 1st March 2022, an online welfare training platform was launched where anyone involved with the handling of pigs will be required to complete an online training course as a part of Red Tractor standards.
Members of Red Tractor will have until 31st August 2022 to complete the first training module named ‘Moving and Handling Pigs’. The course is free of charge for the first 8,000 participants or the first 6 months, whichever comes first, thereafter a fee of £10 will be charged. On completion of the training course a digital certificate will be issued which can be saved for future reference and audits.
The AHDB, Red Tractor, National Pig Association, Pig Veterinary Society and Pig Health and Welfare council alongside pig producers collaborated in developing the training platform to ensure consistent accredited training for the industry.
