The Gwaredu Sheep Scab office has recently been receiving very high levels of farmer enquiries wanting to take part in the project. This has resulted in increased waiting times for officers to visit index farms and follow up in contact farms.
As a result of this high volume of work the turnaround time is increasing.
To prevent further increases in enquiries and a resulting longer waiting time frame Gwaredu Scab has taken the decision to close the current window for new enquiries to concentrate on the current list.
Gwaredu Sheep scab will not take any new farms for at least 4 - 6 weeks to clear the current backlog.
If sheep need to be dipped then the recommendation is that they should be dipped privately due to this long wait.
Once this backlog is removed Gwaredu Scab will be back in contact with plans going forward.
