Welsh Government has published guidance on the Enhanced Nutrient Management Approach. The guidance is under the The Water Resources (Control of Agricultural Pollution) (Wales) Regulations 2021.
The Enhanced Nutrient Management approach is a one-year scheme to allow a higher rate of nitrogen application from grazing livestock manures.
This runs for the calendar year starting 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024 and allows for the application of grazing livestock manures either by direct deposition or spreading above 170 kilograms of nitrogen per hectare to a maximum of 250 kilograms of nitrogen per hectare subject to certain conditions.
Holdings participating in the Enhanced Nutrient Management approach must submit a notification to Natural Resources Wales by 31 March 2024.
