Welsh Government has announced 2 new farm infrastructure grants worth £20 million. The two schemes to support farmers reach compliance with The Water Resources (Control of Agricultural Pollution) (Wales) Regulations 2021 are The Nutrient Management Investment Scheme and the Small Grants – Yard Coverings scheme.
Both schemes are designed to enable farmers to address nutrient management and storage by providing support for additional slurry storage capacity and/or prevent rainwater entering slurry stores to reduce storage capacity requirement.
The scheme Expression of Interest dates are:
Small Grants – Yard Coverings scheme
- 20th May 2024 - 28th June 2024
- The maximum grant award is £12,000 and the minimum is £3,000.
- The grant provides a maximum 40% contribution towards standard costed capital investments (excluding VAT), which has been pre-identified as offering clear and quantifiable benefits to farm businesses.
The Nutrient Management Investment Scheme
- 15th July 2024 - 23rd August 2024
- Further details on the scheme will be provided prior to the window opening
Welsh Government are encouraging applicants to consider potential investments prior to application windows opening and where appropriate, engage with local planning authorities. Planning and SuDS applications should be submitted as soon as possible; doing this work in advance of an application window does not affect your eligibility to apply.
