Once again the Caernarfonshire branch of the Farmers’ Union of Wales led the way and rang the wake-up bells to promote the wonderful food produced in Wales and highlighted the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast during Farmhouse Breakfast Week (January 21 – January 27).
The farmhouse breakfast events, which attracted hundrends of members and friends of the Union from across the county, were held at Ty’n Hendre, Tal-y-bont, Bangor; Cefn Cae, Rowen, Conwy; Glynllifon, Grwp Llandrillo Menai, Caernarfon; Gwythrian, Aberdaron; Dylasau Uchaf, Padog, Betws y Coed; Caffi Anne, Bryncir and at Crugan Farm, Llanbedrog, Pwllheli.
FUW Caernarfonshire CEO Gwynedd Watkin said: “I look forward to our farmhouse breakfasts every year and this was yet another roaring success for everyone involved. We started the day together in a positive and healthy way and at the same time raised money for our charitable causes, Alzheimer's Society Cymru and FCN and for the Sir Conwy 2019 National Eisteddfod Chair fund.
“We’d like to thank everyone who attended and also those who supported us again this year by either cooking or donating produce which helped us raise so much money for our worthy charities.”
Over the last 9 years, the Caernarfonshire breakfasts alone have raised over £50,000 and this year’s fantastic turnout has, to date, raised another whopping £6,800 - with money still coming in.
“It was great to have members and friends of the Union coming together, being a part of what we do, and sharing their thoughts and worries about the state of the industry, helping us to understand how we can help each other.
“What better way to do that than round a table where we share great food and a paned. I’m already looking forward to next year’s breakfast events,” added Gwynedd Watkin.
FUW Caernarfonshire County Chairman Dafydd Martin Williams added: “This is our tenth year and we continue to receive fantastic support from our local communities. We would like to thank Anita Thomas, Gwenan Jones, Catrin Williams, Hâf a Debbie, Anne Franz, Eleri Roberts, Gwenno Roberts and all their hard working teams for a fantastic job catering at the locations this year.
“Their wonderful effort along with invaluable help from their friends and families have raised so much money for very worthwhile causes. We must once again thank the local businesses for their priceless donations as this successful week would not have been possible without their valuable contributions.”
