Gwent and Glamorgan farmers celebrate Welsh breakfast produce

Farmers and friends of the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) have come together in Glamorgan to celebrate the Union’s annual Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which provides an opportunity to celebrate Wales’ excellent food and breakfast produce, as well as discussing farming matters with friends, family and neighbours.

To mark the occasion, the FUW Glamorgan team arranged a breakfast event, which was attended by family, friends, local politicians and farmers from across the counties of Glamorgan and Gwent.

Kick-starting breakfast week were Gaynor and Rhodri and the team at Rosedew farm near Llantwit Major who served up a delicious and nutritious Welsh breakfast buffet.

Speaking at the breakfast, FUW Glamorgan County Chairman Richard Walker said: “I would like to thank Gaynor and the team for the fantastic breakfast and the warm welcome we all enjoyed here today. Their dedication and attention to detail has made this breakfast a complete success and we look forward to returning here next year.

“A huge thank you also to those who sponsored the breakfast produce - it was of the best quality, nutritious and sustainably produced, everything a Welsh breakfast should be.”

FUW Glamorgan and Gwent County Executive officer Sharon Pritchard added: “Not only did we enjoy some fantastic Welsh breakfast produce, we also caught up with local politicians and friends of the Union. It gave us a fantastic opportunity to discuss wider farming matters and share our thoughts about the industry. I’m looking forward to next year’s events already.”

FUW Gwent County Chairman Wayne Langford said: “We really enjoyed joining everyone at Rosedew it was a very successful breakfast and I thank all those who supported us either by joining a breakfast, donating produce, giving their time to help on the day and those who donated to our charitable cause, the DPJ Foundation. Thanks to everyone’s efforts we were able to raise £300 for this worthy cause.”
