The results of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust Farmland Bird Count 2022 have been published.
The FUW joined forces with the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) to showcase the important role farmers play when it comes to looking after farmland birds, as well as helping farmers understand what they can do on their farms to protect birds, through a series of on-farm and virtual events.
More than 1,900 farmers and land managers participated and spotted 130 different species over more than 1.5 million acres during the count which took place from 4th to 20th February 2022.
A total of 26 red-listed species were recorded, 7 of which were amongst the 25 most frequently seen species.
