The excellent effort made to recruit new members in Caernarfonshire has been recognised with the Farmers’ Union of Wales ‘New Members’ Award at the Union’s Annual General meeting in Aberystwyth.

Presenting the award, FUW President Glyn Roberts said: “Gwynedd Watkin and the Caernarfonshire team have worked tirelessly to help members across the county throughout the 2016 calendar year and through their dedicated support and service have attracted the most amount of new members in Wales. I am very grateful for their continued effort and congratulate them on their achievements, the award is indeed very well deserved.

“I am delighted to advise Council that we continue to attract a good number of new members and this, clearly, is extremely important for our future.”

County Executive officers across Wales regularly help members with the completion of Basic Payment Scheme Form, offer year round professional advice and assistance with queries, appeals and penalties from Welsh Government such as SFP, Glastir, Glastir Organic, Capital Works etc. and help members with registering BCMS movements.

Other services provided by county officers include the submission of quarterly VAT online, RPW online registration and general assistance, providing guidance on planning, rights of way, boundary disputes and tenancy issues, as well as inheritance, probate and succession guidance, wayleaves and easements guidance and utility company issues.

“In a constantly evolving and changing industry, County Executive Officers such as Gwynedd and their office staff are a vital source of information, who also provide business advice to our members -  a service that is valued by many.

“As part of the FUW they concentrate solely on the matters which affect our members day to day and are not motivated by profit or influenced by external organisations. It is clear that Wales’ farmers are not a subsidiary to us and that they are the reason we do what we do. We are very fortunate to have such an excellent team of staff in Caernarfonshire and of course across the rest of Wales,” added Glyn Roberts.
