New CEO announced to lead Hybu Cig Cymru 

HCC has announced José Peralta as their new Chief Executive.

José brings with him a wealth of experience having worked for over 25 years in the UK meat industry at Managing Director level. Past roles include working as Managing Director of the UK’s second largest red meat business

German case of Foot and Mouth disease

There has been  a reported case of Foot and Mouth disease (FMD) in Germany.

The disease was discovered in a water buffalo on a farm in Märkisch-Oderland, Brandenburg in the east of the country on 10 January. This is the first case of foot and mouth disease in Germany for almost 40 years.

Farmers encouraged to give feedback on ear tags, pastern bands or boluses

Farmers are being encouraged to give their feedback about issues with ear tags through an online form. 

The form can be used to report any positive or negative feedback you have with ear tags, pastern bands or boluses.

Farming Connect roadshow to advise farmers on succession planning and proposed IHT relief cut

Farming Connect is launching a roadshow of events across Wales to help businesses consider different options for protecting their assets including succession planning.

The Autumn Budget on 30 October included significant proposed changes to IHT rules and these will impact many farm businesses. Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) have published their latest version of their livestock industry booklet The Little Book of Meat Facts.

The Little Book of Meat Facts, the Compendium of Welsh Red Meat and Livestock Statistics 2024, crams 12 months of industry data into its 56 pages and is described as  a must read for the red meat professional or livestock farming enthusiast.
